WP2’s aim is to determine whether the concept of discrimination is (a)symmetric and whether it should be. Combining conceptual engineering with empirical research, it explores both which concept of discrimination we ought to use and whether asymmetry is best understood as a necessary condition or as a factor that makes folks more inclined to describe differential treatment as discrimination. The project addresses this through theoretical analysis and experimental philosophy studies, building on prior CEPDISC work.
