This research theme aims to develop clear, empirically grounded accounts of: i) what guides folks’ and experts’ use of the term “discrimination”; ii) the concept of discrimination and its subspecies; iii) marginal forms of discrimination, i.e., theoretically puzzling forms of discrimination. This will change which classifications are used in the scientific literature on discrimination, and it will help researchers to better understand the nature of discrimination.
