WP1 will design and execute empirical tests to see how to best best model the folks’ use of “discrimination” across a broad range of conceptual issues, e.g., the symmetry issue (WP2) and the direct vs. indirect discrimination issue (WP4). In designing these tests, we bear in mind that what people answer when prompted about hypothetical situations in surveys does not always correspond to how they would respond if confronted with the situation in real life. This project builds on Lippert-Rasmussen et al.’s (2024) study of the comparator condition and supersedes some prior CEPDISC work on this matter.
