WP8 identifies the prevalence and causes of discrimination against people with mental illness and evaluates effective mitigating strategies. Combining survey and field experiments, the project examines key sources of discrimination, including stereotypes and negative affect, and drawing on successful prevention approaches from other domains (e.g., positive affect evoked by personal narratives (Dinesen et al. 2024)) WP8 tests interventions such as information provision and personal narratives (including AI-generated content). By analysing discrimination based on non-ascriptive characteristics, WP8 broadens the empirical scope of CEPDISC and assesses how different mitigation strategies perform across types of discrimination.
