WP5 critically examines accounts of the concept and wrongness of discrimination in the light of often ignored marginal cases of discrimination. Combining standard philosophical tools with empirical work, it investigates non-paradigmatic cases such as discrimination against merely possible people and paternalistic discrimination to assess their theoretical implications. By focusing on these hard cases, WP5 aims to determine whether they constrain which account of the wrongness of discrimination we can think of as correct and to test and refine existing philosophical accounts. WP5 builds on research conducted in CEPDISC’s first period: Bengtson et al. (forthcoming), Cosette-Lefebvre (2025), Räsänen et al. (2024), Steuwer and Lippert-Rasmussen (2024).
