Introducing Xiaohui Wang

Xiaohui Wang, is a PhD student in Philosophy at Fudan University, China. She will be visiting CEPDISC from September 2026 to September 2027.

Xioahui's current research starts from a question on what voluntariness can do in Nozickian entitlement theory. More specifically, how do we understand self-ownership, how far can it be used to change one's own normative position? These questions leads her to broader issues concerning consent, alienability and irrevocability. She is particularly interested in whether the justificatory role assigned to voluntary transfer can be justified once we consider cases in which valid choices accumulate into highly restrictive forms of subjection (for example, voluntary slavery).
