Diana Galos recently joined CEPDISC as a postdoc. Diana holds a PhD from the Department of Political and Social Sciences at the European University Institute in Florence. Before coming to CEPDISC she was a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Konstanz and a Fulbright scholar at Yale University. She holds a MSc in Sociology from University of Oxford and a BA in Sociology from Goldsmiths, University of London. 

At CEPDISC, Diana studies discrimination along the lines of gender, social class, and physical appearance in various domains (labour market, higher education). She is also interested in the role of social networking platforms (such as Twitter) as an additional information channel that might amplify discriminate based on “intangible” characteristics—such as social class or physical appearance. Social media provides an avenue for self-expression through which expressions of social class and physical appearance —are easily gleaned from both visual (photos, other visual representations) and non-visual manifestations (writing). The prediction is then that individuals, including employers, treats individuals differently—discriminate against them—based on these, generally irrelevant, traits that could be inferred from social media. Besides her interest in discrimination, she is also broadly interested in gender inequality, social mobility, educational inequalities and experiments.
