Outreach 2025

This page contains a few selected examples of outreach from the Centre during 2025.

Lasse Laustsen argues that Greenlanders are subjected to racism and discrimination by the Danish population in an opinion piece published in Politiken. Laustsen finds that the extent of racism and the use of derogatory language towards Greenlanders by Danes matches similar racism directed at other ethnic minorities. For example, around one in four Danes consider it acceptable to use expressions like “grønlænderstiv” (drunk as a Greenlander) to describe someone who is very intoxicated, and “hættemåge” (black-headed gull) to refer to a Muslim woman wearing a headscarf. Laustsen therefore argues that the acceptance of derogatory and partially racist language is a phenomenon that affects ethnic and religious minorities more broadly—not just Greenlanders. He believes this should prompt a certain degree of critical self-reflection on the appropriateness of continuing to use overtly derogatory language about ethnic minorities. The opinion piece was published in Politiken on January 16, 2025: https://politiken.dk/debat/debatindlaeg/art10242322/Grønlændere-oplever-racisme-i-Danmark.-De-er-ikke-alene (behind a paywall). The opinion piece is in Danish.

Kasper Lippert-Rasmussen discusses what a personality hire is and if it is fair, or even legal, for businesses to recruit for specific personality types. Lippert-Rasmussen argues that bias towards extrovert people in hiring can be equated to other forms of discrimination in hiring – e.g. because research shows that 40-60% of personality is inherited, thus not something one self can change.

Lippert-Rasmussen argues that there are strong arguments for expanding the protection against discrimination to include certain personality types. Although he does recognize that this opens the door for protections against discrimination becoming too far-reaching. The podcast was brought on BBC Business Daily August 21, 2025: https://www.bbc.com/audio/play/w3ct6s2h

Lippert-Rasmussen is brought in at timestamp 11:49.
