Progress in women’s participation as postdocs and associate professors at Aarhus University remains slow. Therefore, this project will explore the effects of gendered networking practices on career outcomes.
Networks are a quintessential component of the successful academic career, as such, the project strives to raise institutional awareness about gender bias in academic networking and develop tailor-made strategies for overcoming such biases.
To achieve this, a deeper understanding of how exactly the typical network characteristics of women and men differ is needed. The project will employ a three-step, action-based research methodology, incl. a university-wide survey, focus groups at all faculties and various dissemination activities.
The local Gender Equity Committee (GEC) of the Department of Physics and Astronomy (S&T) will partner the project.
