Aarhus University must attract more female researchers
The management at Aarhus University will meet on 18 February to discuss a new equal opportunities policy, replacing the previous gender equality initiatives from 2009. Right now there are 17% women at professorial level, which is lower than in several other Danish universities.
A new and as yet unpublished report from the Danish Centre for Studies in Research and Research Policy (CFA) shows that Aarhus University has a lower percentage of female professors than the University of Copenhagen, Roskilde University and Aalborg University. One of the report's authors, Evanthia K. Schmidt, research director at CFA, believes that gender equality has not been a top priority in recent years because the university has undergone a major reorganization. On 18 February, the management at Aarhus University will discuss a new equal opportunities policy, which over the next five years is to redress the gender imbalance.
