My research focuses on developing agronomic management systems that enhance both the economic viability and environmental sustainability of cultivating perennial grain crops in Denmark. I work with a diverse range of species, including intermediate wheatgrass, perennial rye, sainfoin, and silphium, to explore their potential in resilient agricultural systems.
We combine digital agriculture imaging technologies to monitor above- and below-ground crop growth with laboratory analyses and tracer-labelling techniques to investigate plant physiological responses to water stress, cutting regimes, nitrogen limitation, and competition. Through this integrative approach, our goal is to identify management strategies that support sustainable production, soil health, and long-term ecosystem services.
