Alireza Motevalli is a Postdoctoral Researcher at Aarhus University, Department of Agroecology, Denmark. His research integrates hydrology, nutrient dynamics, and carbon modeling with a focus on understanding nitrate leaching across Denmark. His current project combines spatial modeling of nitrate losses with the national NLES5 framework to assess how nitrate released from soils is transported to groundwater and surface waters. In parallel, he develops carbon turnover models (e.g., C-TOOL ) to quantify soil carbon stocks, sequestration potential, and CO₂ emissions. His work bridges field measurements, laboratory experiments, and large-scale simulations, thereby linking nitrogen and carbon cycles in agricultural landscapes and supporting strategies for sustainable land and water management.
