Call for applicants

How to participate

The Summer School is open to PhD students from political science. If space allows, we may accept applicants from related fields or Master’s students.

You will present a research paper or PhD thesis chapter (6,000–8,000 words), and discuss another participant’s paper. In exceptional cases, we may also accept project proposals or research plans.

How to apply

The application takes place in two steps:

First step: all interested applicants are asked to submit the following material until 15 April through the submission form

  • an extended abstract of the paper they wish to present at the Summer School (500-800 words)
  • a synopsis of the larger research project they are working on (800-1,000 words)

After the Academic Conveners have evaluated all applications, we will let you know by email whether your application has been successful.

Second step: Those applicants that got accepted will then need to register and pay for your attendance via the ECPR website (a link will appear when registration opens in May). To register, you need a MyECPR account. If you don't already have one, create one. All applicants will be notified in the first week of May about their participation in the Summer School.
