Election Data

The Danish Election Database was developed at Department of Political Science and includes public election and population statistics divided by polling stations since 1979. Statistics Denmark has now implemented and further developed the database and they regularly update with data on votes for parties and candidates from recent elections together with data on voters and households every five years.

Recent included elections are Local and County Elections 2017, Election for The European Parlament 2019, The Public Referendum 2022, and The Election for the Danish Parlament 2022. The most recent population data are from 2020.

A special feature of the Election Database is the ability to recalculate - with a given tolerance - old polling station areas to new ones and thus make studies possible with constant areas over time. The map above shows  with colours broader areas with uniform change across nomination districts in voting over time indicating a special local political subculture.
