									<p>On 21 and 22 September the Danish Data Ethics Council, CEPDISC and the Algorithms, Data and Democracy Project, are organising two half-day conferences focusing on the challenge of algorithmic bias.</p>
<p><strong>We will be joined by the American expert Professor Deborah Hellman. In addition, representatives from the Danish Police, Novo Nordisk and ATP will share their experiences in addressing algorithmic bias, followed by a panel debate exploring the question:</strong></p>
<p><strong>“How do we tackle algorithmic bias? Through new legislation? New technology? Or by making better use of the tools we already have?”</strong></p>
<p>The conferences will be held on 21 September in Copenhagen at the think tank “Mandag Morgen” and on 22 September in Aarhus at “Moesgaard Museum”, from 1:00 PM to 4:30 PM on both days.</p>
<p>Both days will feature:</p><ul><li><span><strong>Keynote address by Professor Deborah Hellman, University of Virginia School of Law (USA)</strong></span></li><li><span><strong>Practical presentations on experiences with managing algorithmic bias from the Danish Police, Novo Nordisk and ATP</strong></span></li><li><span><strong>Panel debate on how society should address algorithmic bias, featuring members of the Danish Data Ethics Council, Danish researchers and politicians</strong></span></li></ul><p>Among others, you will have the opportunity to meet Johan Busse, Chair of the Danish Data Ethics Council and Chief Legal Officer, Danish Institute for Human Rights, Birgitte Vind (Social Democrats), Sofie Therese Svendsen (Conservative People's Party), Professor Kasper Lippert-Rasmussen, Centre for the Experimental-Philosophical Study of Discrimination (CEPDISC), Aarhus University, Professor Sine Nørholm Just, Algorithms, Data and Democracy Project, Roskilde University, Henriette Erbs and Julia Ballaschk, National Special Crime Unit, Lars Pilegaard Thomsen, Novo Nordisk, Brian Andersen, ATP.</p>
<p>The conferences are open to the public and participation is free of charge, although places are limited so registration is necessary.</p>
