The CAP Conference takes place in Aarhus on 1-3 July 2020.

The conference hosts up to 100 international researchers from all parts of the world who are all interested in ‘who sets the agenda’ in political systems around the world.

One of the key strengths of the CAP-conference is its cross-disciplinarity and scholarly plurality: the conference brings together a broad variety of researchers concerned with all parts of the political system including research on legislation, budgets, parliaments, bureaucracy, interest groups, the media, and voters. The diverse set of researchers is brought together by a common interest in describing and understanding political agenda-setting, which is the initial phase of the political decision-making process in which political actors compete to decide which are the pressing issues that parliament needs to solve. This is a crucial phase in policy-making. If, for instance, business interests successfully keep pollution as a political issue off the agenda, then they probably avoid the enactment of strict regulation.

The CAP2020 invites paper submissions from scholars from around the world who work on the allocation of political attention, especially scholars who have not attended a CAP conference before or who have recently started to work with the political agenda data collected by the international research network behind the Comparative Agendas Project (CAP).
