- Danish politics in all its varieties and on several levels
- International relations (both as a system and with a focus on individual countries)
- EU - Issues related to the European Union
- Public administration issues at central as well as local level
- Public policy - its creation, implementation and effects
- Political (and other) sociology, including media-related problems
- Political theory

Department subfields
The Department of Political Science is divided into a number of subfields, each consisting of staff members with expertise in the specific subject area. The subfields form the framework for the department's overall activities, coordinating teaching, staff affairs and general research strategies. The subfields cover the subject areas International Relations, Public Administration, Public Policy, Comparative Politics, Political Theory, Sociology and Methods.
